I created this pattern last minute for a birthday party. I only met the birthday boy once but he had a hat on in his profile Facebook picture so I thought why not make something similar. For this pattern you will need:
- Loop and Thread Charisma yarn
- Size US 13 circular knitting needle
- Tapestry needle
- Measuring tape
- Stitch markers
- Scissors
You will need to know how to:
- Knit
- Purl
Knitting Abbreviations:
Co: Cast On
St(s): Stitch(es)
K: Knit
P: Purl
Rnd: Round
M1: Increase one stitch
X: number of repeats
K2tog: Knit two stitches together
*: Repeat instructions that are within **
Notes:
- Sizing is for Men
- I always use the long tail cast on.
- Three Needle Bind off here
- Kitchener Stitch is also an option for closing the hat
- Pompom tutorial here
Pattern
Body:
Cast on 44 sts, join in the rnd, place marker
Rnd 1-6) *K1, p1*
Rnd 7) *K10, m1, k1,* 4x; add 4 extra sts evenly (48 sts)
Rnd 8 – 30) *K1, p1*
Decrease:
Rnd 31) *K4, k2tog* 8x (40)
Rnd 32) Knit
Rnd 33) *K2, k2tog* 10x (30)
Rnd 34) Knit
Rnd 35) *K1, k2tog* 10x (20)
Finishing:
Three needle bind off or Clinch your beanie
