Rizzo Beanie

I created this pattern last minute for a birthday party. I only met the birthday boy once but he had a hat on in his profile Facebook picture so I thought why not make something similar. Hence the Rizzo hat named after the birthday boy himself. I hope you enjoy making this as much as I did! Happy making and thank you for choosing OhMyKnit! 

For this pattern you will need:

You will need to know how to:

  • Knit
  • Purl

Knitting Abbreviations:
Co: Cast On
St(s): Stitch(es)
K: Knit
P: Purl
Rnd: Round
M1: Increase one stitch
X: number of repeats
K2tog: Knit two stitches together
*: Repeat instructions that are within ** 

Notes

  1. Sizing is for Men
  2. I always use the long tail cast on. 
  3. Three Needle Bind off here
  4. Kitchener Stitch is also an option for closing the hat
  5. Pompom tutorial here

Pattern

Body:
Cast on 44 sts, join in the rnd, place marker
Rnd 1-6) *K1, p1*
Rnd 7) *K10, m1, k1,* 4x; add 4 extra sts evenly (48 sts)
Rnd 8 – 30) *K1, p1*

Decrease:
Rnd 31) *K4, k2tog* 8x (40)
Rnd 32) Knit
Rnd 33) *K2, k2tog* 10x (30)
Rnd 34) Knit
Rnd 35) *K1, k2tog* 10x (20)

Finishing:
Three needle bind off or Clinch your beanie

Pattern Review: The Parker Beanie

I’m crocheting all the baby hats for my local NICU. This pattern paired with the sizing chart is making my life so much easier! I highly recommend this pattern. Ashleigh makes it so easy to follow along and you get to learn new techniques when you watch her YouTube video that’s included. She can make one hat within 20 minutes!
