Hey there! Thank you so much for checking out my Provision Shawl pattern. I created this pattern because I fell in love with this diamond pattern so much that I wanted to make a shawl version of it.
Pattern Details:

Disclaimer: Knit at your own risk! This is an untested free pattern still in the beta phase. I have edited it as best as I can at the moment and would love editing feedback on it if you do try it out.
For this pattern you will need:
- 3 balls of Red Heart Aran
- Or 2232 yards of worsted weight yarn
- Size US 10 circular needles with a 60 inch cable
- Tapestry needle
- Measuring tape
- Stitch markers
- Scissors
You will need to know how to:
- Knit
- Purl
- Increase
- Decrease
Knitting Abbreviations:
Co: Cast On
St(s): Stitch(es)
K: Knit
P: Purl
R: Row
Slm: Slip Marker
Pm: Place Stitch Marker
Rs: Right Side of work
Ws: Wrong Side of work
Yo: Yarn Over
K2tog: Knit two stitches together
P2togtbl: Purl two stitches together through the back loop
Tbl: Through the back loop
Psso: Pass slip stitch over
X: Times; repeat this step x amount of times
*: Repeat instructions that are within **
Notes:
- I always use the long tailed cast on.
- Tab Cast On: Video – Note this video uses the garter stitch. I’ve only included it for reference for the cast on that I used.

- Slip stitches purlwise
- On the 4th & 8th purl rows don’t increase (yo) in the middle
Pattern
Beginning:
Co 6 Sts
R1) *K1, p1*
R2) *P1, k1*
Repeat R1-2 14x
There should be 8 V’s on the side of your tab.
Do not turn work, Rotate piece 90 degrees clockwise and pick up and K 8 sts along the Slip stitch edge, Rotate piece another 90 degrees pu 5 sts, turn (18sts)
Setup rows:
R1) *P1, kfb* (28sts)
R2) K1, p1, k1, p1, k1, k1, pm, yo, pm, k7, pm, k2, pm, k7, pm, yo, pm, k1, k1, p1, k1, p1, k1
R3) K1, p1, k1, p1, k1, p1, slm, yo, p1, slm, p7, slm, yo, p2, yo, slm; p7, slm p1, yo, p1 *K1, P1* k1
Increase repeat:
(Rs) K1, p1, k1, p1, k1, k1, slm; yo, k to marker, slm; pattern, slm, k to marker, yo, k2, yo, k to maker, slm; pattern slm, k to maker, yo, slm, k1, *K1, P1*
(Ws) K1, p1, k1, p1, k1, k1, slm; yo, p to maker, slm; pattern, slm, p to maker, yo, p2, yo, p to marker, slm; pattern slm, p to maker, yo, slm, k1, *K1, P1*
On the 4th & 8th purl rows do not increase (yo) in the middle.
You will increase after knitting your boarders, increase in the middle and increase before knitting your boarder on the other end.
Repeat this increase pattern until you have 7 stitches between your markers. Than add it to your pattern repeat and add another marker.
Pattern repeat:
R1) K1; *K2, k2tog, yo, k3,* *K1, P1*
R2) *p1, p2tog tbl, yo, p1, yo, p2tog, p1*
R3) *k2tog, yo, k3, yo, sl 1, k1, psso*
R4) Purl
R5) k1; *yo sl 1, k1 psso, k5*, until marker,
R6) k1; *yo p2tog, p2, p2togtbl, yo, p1*,
R7) k1; *k2, yo, sl 1, k1 psso, k2tog, yo, k1* until marker
R8) Purl
Repeat row 1-8 until 1 ½ inches before your desired length
Ending:
*K1, P1* for the last 10 rows
Bind off loosely and weave in all ends.
