Hey there! This is the Roxana’s Dishcloth pattern. I created this pattern for a birthday present for one of my friends. I hope you enjoy making this as much as I did!

For this pattern you will need:

You will need to know how to:

  • Chain
  • Single Crochet
  • Slip Stitch

Crochet Abbreviations:
Ch: Chain
St(s): Stitch(es)
Sk: Skip # st
Ch sp: Chain Space
R: Row
SC: Single Crochet
Slst: Slip Stitch
Rep: Repeat
*: Repeat instructions that are within **

Size: Approx: 5 ½ x 5 ½  for small size and 8 ½ x 8 ½ for bigger size.
Gauge: 20sts + 17row = 4 inches or 5sts + 4.25 r = 1 inch in waffle sts pattern
Notes

  1. If this is your first time doing this stitch I suggest you use a light colored yarn
    1. White or neutral
  2. Don’t chain too loosely 
  3. Work into the back bumps of your ch for the set up row
  4. I pull up slightly instead of ch1
  5. The sts count does not include your chains
  6. Put your last sc into the previous row’s ch

Pattern:

For Smaller Size:
R1) Ch28, turn
R2) Sk1, 1sc in 2nd st, *ch1, sk1, 1sc into next st,* rep across, turn (13sts)
R3) *Ch1, sc1 into ch sp,* rep across, 1sc into last st, turn (13sts)
Rep row 3 until you have a perfect square or 28 rows

Border:
Slip stitch along the top, sides, and bottom
Corners: slst, ch1, slst
When you get to the last corner slst, ch10, slst

For Bigger Size:
R1) Ch45, 
R2) Sk 1, 1sc in 2nd st, *ch1, sk1, 1 sc into next st,* rep across, turn (23sts)
R3) *Ch1, sc1 into ch sp,* rep across, 1sc into last st
Rep row 3 until you have a perfect square

Border:
Slip stitch along the top, sides, and bottom
Corners: slst, ch1, slst
When you get to the last corner slst, ch15, slst

Finishing:
You can steam block or use it right away.
