Wanderer Mittens - Oh My Journey

I made these while dreaming of traveling to colder climates.

For this pattern you will need:

1 Ball of Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick yarn
Size US 13 circular knitting needle
Tapestry needle
Measuring tape
Stitch markers
Scrap yarn
Scissors

You will need to know how to:

Knit in the round
Purl in the round
Pick up stitches
Increase
Decrease

Knitting Abbreviations:
Co: Cast On
St(s): Stitch(es)
K: Knit
P: Purl
Rnd: Round
M1R: Make one stitch leaning to the right
M1L: Make one stitch leaning to the left
Sl: Slip
K2tog: Knit 2 sts together
Ssk: Slip, slip, knit
*: Repeat instructions that are within **
Fasten off: Cut yarn leaving a 6 in tail, weave yarn through all live sts, pull tight to close

Size: 9 ins long and 6.5 ins wide
Gauge: 10 sts + 16 rows = 4 ins

Notes:

I always use the long tail cast on

Pattern

Cuff:
Co 14 sts, join in the round, place marker at the beginning.
Rnd 1-6) *K1, p1*
Rnd 7-13) Knit all sts

Thumb Hole:
Rnd 14) K1, pm, M1R, k1, M1L, pm, knit to the end
Rnd 15) Knit all sts
Rnd 16) K2, sl 4 sts onto scrap yarn, knit to the end
Rnd 17-30) Knit all sts
Continue knitting until you get to the top of your pinky then start decreasing.

Decreasing:
Rnd 1) K5, k2tog, k4, ssk, k1 (12 sts)
Rnd 2) Knit all sts
Rnd 3) K1, k2tog, k3, ssk, k4 (10 sts)
Rnd 4) *K2tog* (5 sts)
Fasten off

Thumb:
Set up rnd: Pick up 4sts, pm, pick up 2 more sts, join in the round (6 sts)
Rnd 1-7) Knit
Rnd 8) K2tog (3 sts)
Fasten off
Weave in all yarn ends.
