The Kaylee Basket works up quick and uses simple stitches. In a few hours you’ll have your very own crochet basket with handles! It’s great for holding diapers and wipes near the changing table. Or you can use it for your little one’s toys.

Hey there! Thank you so much for checking out my Kaylee’s Basket pattern. I created this pattern for little Bianca Kaylee’s first birthday party. Her mother said no toys and all I had was yarn. So it was either this or a dress. I took the easy way out, lol. I hope you enjoy making this as much as I did!

For this pattern you will need:

You will need to know how to:

  • Magic Circle
  • Slip Stitch
  • Single Crochet
  • Double Crochet
  • Half Double Crochet
  • Joining a new ball of yarn in double crochet

Crochet Abbreviations:

St(s): Stitch(es)
Ch: Chain
Sk: Skip
Slst: Slip Stitch
SC: Single Crochet
DC: Double Crochet
HDC: Half Double Crochet
BLO: through the back loop only
A: Main Color
B: Secondary color
*: Repeat instructions that are within **

Gauge: None, you may want to go one hook down if you find that your basket base is to floppy. The Stiffer the better.
Final measurement: 11 inches wide across bottom and 7 ½ inches deep/height

Notes:

  1. This basket is work with two strands of yarn
  2. Your chain does not count as a st, meaning you will work your first sts into that same stitch. Ie: ch. 1dc into every sts; your going to put a dc into the same st as your chain
  3. When you chain 1 pull up or you can chain 2 instead
  4. I used one strand from each ball of color A together and for color B I used both yarn ends
