God doesn’t ‘show up’ he shows off.

I was thinking about this the other day. We really need to stop asking God to show up and start asking him to show off.

I mean think about it, the word says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” That means that God is already with you! He is already present! You wouldn’t ask someone who is standing next to you to come and stand next to you. That’s just silly because They are already there.

Ask God to reveal himself to you right now in this moment. So that you can know that he is indeed near.

‘But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.’

Deuteronomy 30:14

“Okay, Olguine. I hear what you are saying but how do I apply this?”

Glad you asked. Here is what I do: When I am in a situation, I don’t think or say, ‘God can you please show up.’ No, I thank God for showing off in these situations. Because I know that he will solve whatever it is in a way that I could never even dream of. I know that he will completely surpass my expectation of whatever resolution I thought of.

Pastor Jason Justice would always say,

If it ain’t good, then God’s not done!

This covers every situation you will and have encountered. “If it ain’t good, then God’s not done.” Every hurt you felt, there is healing for it. Every sorrow and injustice that has occurred, there is a resolution and restoration for that. God doesn’t just care about the present, he cares about the past also. He cares about you.

When I came to know God, the first things I was healed from was bitterness and anger. I had been angry for most of my life and never knew any different, in fact I thought feeling that way was normal. But God in all this goodness said, “There’s more.” Once I gave up that anger and bitterness that had a place in my heart, joy and peace entered in.

The only way I came into that healing was simply knowing that God was present. That he was kind, that he cares deeply for me, that he loved me first. And you can’t know the love of someone who isn’t present.

Can we just pray together right now?

Lord, I know that you are here and that you have been watching over me. Grieving with me and laughing with me. I acknowledge that you want to carry my sorrows and pain. That you will heal me of all my past hurts and restore me to who I was created to be. I also acknowledge that I was not created to walk this earth alone. But with my Heavenly Father. So I thank you right now that I am not alone. That you are doing a good work in my life. That you are constantly working for me because that is what the word says. Thank you! In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
