What does the term ‘Seeking God’ mean to you? What does it look like?
Are you running around trying to “Godly” things? Is it going to church every week to find Him? Do you get frustrated and wonder, ‘Where is God?’ Listen closely, He is not hiding from you. To seek and find Him is as simple as slowing down and being aware that He is right here with you in this moment.
“But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.”Deuteronomy 4:29
The first ‘seek’ in this verse is baqash which, in Hebrew, means to seek by worship or by prayer. The ‘seek’ is darash translates into frequently. These two words alone shows that God is not hiding. He wants us to know and remember that He is going through life with us. Some of the ways we can remind ourselves of this is when we are singing our hearts out to Him or in the quiet moments where we bare our souls to Him. He wants to share our moments of joy and peace and in our times of trial and troubles. It’s in those still small moments that will have us more aware of Him at all times.
Notice I said trials and troubles rather than fear or worries because as Children of God those things were not part of the promise.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.2 Timothy 1:7
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”John 16:33
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life…Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”Matthew 6:25-34
All throughout scripture, God is constantly revealing Himself to us and establishing relationships with us. Always present, always loving.
