How does God talk to you?

First He reached me with Words,
“I have always loved you. You are mine. I have plans for your future.”
The first thing I understood from His voice was His love for me.
When I got more of an understanding of who He was we started talking,
Having conversations, arguments, professions, and laughs.
His voice was always loving, always gentle, and just a bit cheeky.
Because of the way we talk there became a knowing.
A knowing of His goodness, His faithfulness, His favor, and his love for me.
I started to know which direction to walk in,
What steps to take, what paths to go down.
Because I knew His voice and He knows my hearts desires.
I started to lean into our relationship even more,
To ask and seek for a deeper intimacy
To discover the depths of His love and His affection for me
I wanted to know Him more than I knew myself
And so my eyes were opened
& I started to see the world the way He saw it
The broken, the healed
The good the bad
The old the young
And in the midst of it was still just
He & I
And it still was beyond beautiful
