I was sitting in my room one afternoon and I actually had time to clear my mind. I never realized how I always had one thing or another going on or how I needed to consume things, tv shows, books, to shut my mind off. It was in this moment one afternoon that I was truly still.

The stillness I mention in this post is from Psalms 23 mĕnuwchah which means rest.

Right now when the world is still, breathe.

Breathe deeply,

Feel your every cell receive oxygen

From your lungs to your fingertips, all the way down to the tips of your toes.

Feel your body relax and become untense.

Breathe again,

Inhale the stillness of it all.

Now breathe again,

but this time let the stillness fill your mind.

Hold on to that feeling,

Let it enter deep down into your heart.

Feel your mind clear,

here in this moment are where the thoughts of busyness will try to enter in,

Don’t let them!

Hold onto the stillness of this moment.

Invite it in.

Be in this moment.

Choose to be present,

not in anxiety or worry

but be present in peace and rest.

And always remember to breathe.

Scriptures:

‘He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.’

Psalms 23:2

Better one handful with tranquillity than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind.

Ecclesiastes 4:6 NLT

To whom He said, “This is the rest with which You may cause the weary to rest,” And, “This is the refreshing”;
