How can we renew our minds and truly be seated in Heavenly Places with Christ Jesus? Easy, by starting off with the right mindset. When understanding who God is we can truly reflect his image. “You are what you behold.” Learn how to think and be more than in conquer, “We need to be praying from Heaven to Earth not the other way around.”
Hello readers,
Today we have a special guest by the name of Bert Eldredge. I first heard of Bert through a mutual friend by the name of Scott. Scott had told me a brief teaching by Bert,
“God doesn’t use us. He loves through us.”
Bert Eldredge
So often we say the phrase, “God used me for xyz.” Hmmm, did he though? We wouldn’t say that in a positive way when we talk about people. Ie: “S/he used me.” Then should we be using the same phrase to talk about our Heavenly Father? Short answer is no. When I first heard this concept, I was mind blown and I knew I had to meet Bert. I got the pleasure of doing so shortly after and man, did we have good conversations. Later on, when I found out that he had a podcast, Barbarian Prophet, I knew I had to listen. While listening to the ‘Supernatural living with Dawn‘ episode, I had a question. So I sent Bert a message and then another and then another and it turned into the blog post which you are now reading.
Well, lets get onto the interview:
Q: Hey Bert. I’m listening to your podcast. On the Supernatural living with Dawn episode what do you mean when you align yourself with heaven first? How does that look like?
A: Hey Olguine, thanks for listening. What ‘aligning yourself with Heaven first’ means is this simple statement,
“When we look to subject ourselves to the will of the father over our earthly desires that is living Heaven to Earth.”
Bert Eldredge
Notice that God always plays Heaven before Earth. For example: In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth. When Jesus prayed, he said your will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. All throughout scripture we see this. Go to Genesis chapter 2, God is showing you how man was made from the Earth. We are made from the Earth to be in rhythm with the Earth. But now that we are born again in Jesus Christ we become in rhythm with heaven. We having received the Spirit of God (becoming part of God’s family) we have now, “become in rhythm with heaven.” When you read in the Gospel of John chapter 3, you will notice that Jesus says we have to be born of the spirit. The spirit comes from Heaven, so to speak. It means to live supernaturally, always seeking to live in the supernatural or in the spirit. So we should shift our minds from [being] rooted on Earth and asking Heaven to help us. To do this we need to first root ourselves in the teachings of Jesus Christ.
“We should start rooting ourselves in Heaven and seeing what we are to be doing upon the Earth.”
Bert Eldredge
Living with our minds and thoughts aligned with Heaven, supernatural, rather than earth, natural.
Q: Would you say that the way this concept gets executed is different for everyone?
A: I would say that there are many different mantels that are passed along. And each person is born with a specific anointing upon their life to fulfill the destiny of which has been set before them.
Q: So would you say that when someone aligns themselves with heaven and start to walk in their gifting that have been revealed, then they can truly be walking in their purpose? As in they can now go out into the world, fully equipped, and make disciples?
A: I think a lot of people charge out thinking they know a great deal because they have some book knowledge. But at the end of the day, if we are not lead by the spirit nor following the Holy Spirit then we will be lost along the way. Many people will chase after doctrines that are not sound. They will be the people that become lost. Paul speaks of that in his letters to Timothy; 2 Corinthians 3. And there is a great deal of people that need to listen to Holy Spirit and be led by his promptings. We Chase after the Holy Spirit, he does not chase after us. (See down below for more about The Wild Goose Chase.) We make sure that everything that we are doing aligns with his word. The key thing you are said is, “making disciples” not bringing about converts. Learning to walk in the discipline of the spirit is key. Remember in the Gospel of John, Jesus says,
“I am the way the truth and the life and no one comes to ‘Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. ‘
John 14:6
“Jesus is not as worried about getting you into Heaven as he is worried about getting Heaven into you.” – Bert Eldredge

Q: I love how after Jesus didn’t tell his disciples to go out until the very end after receiving the baptizing of the Holy spirit and received sound teaching. I was going to ask you a question about those who go and charge out. Then revelation hit me while I was looking up scriptures as reference. Those people who go out with only knowledge and no understanding can’t do the full work of God. Can they teach someone about the Lord, yes. But they can’t help someone understand the way of God without understanding it first themselves. In Acts 18, it speaks of Apollos who was an educated man from Alexandria. He knew the Scriptures very well. Priscilla and Aquila heard him speak and invited him over to give him a better understanding of the way of God. In the book of Proverbs, it always speaks of knowledge and understanding as if they are a pair. They go hand in hand.
A: A person can have knowledge without understanding. But they cannot have understanding without knowledge. (That sounds like a Chinese proverb, lol.) Now one of the funny things is, you will hear people say knowledge is power. That is the oldest lie in the book. Knowledge is simply knowing something and wisdom is understanding how to apply it. The only way you can know God is by understanding and knowing his son Jesus Christ. The way is more than a destination and truth is more than facts. You have to have Jesus to have life.
Q: The way the truth and the life huh? 🙂 “Wisdom is understanding how to apply it.” I like that! would you say that wisdom can’t come before knowledge as well?
A: Wisdom comes from the word. Understanding comes from living. We understand things once we’ve seen them or seen them applied. But wisdom comes when we align ourselves with the Word of our Savior.
The Wild Goose Chase
The old Irish used to call Holy Spirit the wild goose. Because you could not tame him or cage him. All you could do is pursue him. But you had to keep your eye on where he was going. When monks used to come into town and people ask them what they’re doing they would say we are on a wild goose chase. It did not mean something that didn’t come to anything. It meant that you pursued things of God even when the rest of the world thought you’re foolish. People would say, “Tell us the things of God and what he is having you do.” We shall keep pursuing God, just like 1 Corinthians 1:18 says, “they’ll see us as fools but we know the way of the cross.”
Scriptures!
Here at OMK, we like to back everything up with Scripture. So you know we’re not just making things up. It’s also one of the ways we stay authentic 🙂
‘and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, ‘
Ephesians 2:6
which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,
Ephesians 1:20
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,
Ephesians 1:3
‘Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. ‘
Genesis 2:1
‘Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. ‘
John 3:5-6
‘Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”’
Matthew 28:18-20
‘Meanwhile a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was a learned man, with a thorough knowledge of the Scriptures. He had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and he spoke with great fervor and taught about Jesus accurately, though he knew only the baptism of John. He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately. ‘
Acts 18:24-26
‘He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. ‘
2 Corinthians 3:6
“I am the way the truth and the life and no one comes to ‘Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. ‘
John 14:6
‘For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. ‘
1 Corinthians 1:18
